Practise your doubles

There’s the old saying in Golf, you “drive for show, but putt for dough”. The same can be said about Darts where the 140’s and of course even the 180’s are great as you get to the finish line quicker. But unless you hit the double, it’s all a waste of time. Practising hitting the treble 20 is important, but you also need to put in as much effort into the doubles.

All of the doubles, not just your favourite! Bob’s 27, named after The Limestone Cowboy and ex world champion (1988), Bob Anderson is a great game used by not just the pro’s but for even the average player alike as it only needs one person to play and focuses purely on the doubles.

how to get better at darts

Here’s how to play:

You start with 27 points. You aim for double 1 and use all three darts. If you hit the double once, you add 2 to your score (and go onto 29 points), if you miss, you go to 26 points. (If you hit it twice out of the three darts, add 4 etc). Hit or miss your next three darts will be at double 2. Continue through all the doubles and finish on double tops (20). If your score at any time goes into the negatives because of missing a double, the game is over. If more of a pro add the bull(s) as the finish line, but making it to double tops each time will see you as a great finisher.

Remember, 180’s for show, doubles for dough!

Straight arrows everyone.
